Fun (sarcasm) fact: I have an old station wagon and where I live, there's a lot of film industry. My old car:

When they film things that are in the 80's or so, they hire folks to show up with their old cars.

You may have seen it in Stranger Things, for example:

Or the Haunting of hill house:

And a few others. But anyway, at one point, they were trying to get all us folks with old cars to come to the studio and they were going to give us like 500 bucks so the Special Effects department can scan our cars and make 3d models of them

We all said no.

We have also all agreed, even though we're just lowly extra's and not even SAG (Some of us are also IATSE, local 479 if you're curious), though, we've all agreed we're standing with SAG-AFTRA and refusing to work.

@neil-gaiman can speak better to the SAG-AFTRA stuff than me, but even us BG folks around here stand with the writers.

Insider sources have told Collider that studios have already utilized technology that can replace background actors with digital avatars in upcoming movies including "Captain America: Brave New World" and Netflix's "The Residence."

According to the report, some actors allege that they weren't even given the option to opt out of being scanned, something that was contingent on their being hired
